About Faith
Artist, animator, and Queen of Joy and Peace
Faith Copeland is an American-born artist living and working in Charlottenlund, Denmark. Raised in Massachusetts, she has lived and created across the United States and Europe — and for over three decades her work has been driven by one simple belief: that joy is serious business.
Where it all began
Faith grew up in Massachusetts, where she first discovered the power of colour and image to change how a room — and a person — feels. From there, life took her south to Nashville and Florida, and eventually across the Atlantic to Spain, France, Austria, and Sweden, before she finally put down roots in Denmark.
Each place left its mark. The warmth of the American South, the light of the Mediterranean, the clean Nordic air of Scandinavia — all of it found its way into her paintings. Her studio in Charlottenlund is a place of constant experiment: canvases propped against every wall, silk stretched on frames.
Over the years her work has taken her from the dramatic cliffs of the Faroe Islands to the sun-drenched streets of the American South — and every journey finds its way back into the paintings.
Joy as a practice
Faith calls herself the Queen of Joy and Peace — not as a boast, but as a commitment. She believes that art has a responsibility to lift people up, to remind them that colour exists, that beauty is not frivolous, that laughter and wonder are serious things.
Her paintings are rarely still. Figures dance, animals stride, landscapes breathe. She works in layers — building up texture and depth until a painting feels less like something you look at and more like somewhere you could step into.
"I want people to stand in front of one of my paintings and feel something shift," she says. "Even just a little. Even just for a moment. That's enough."
